The Deputy Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing inaugurates the works of the Saudi Contracting Excellence Summit (SCES 2023)

His Excellency Deputy Minister of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing, Engineer Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Badir, inaugurated today the activities of Saudi Contracting Excellence Summit (SCES 2023) The Conference will continue for two days at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the capital, Riyadh, on behalf of the Minister of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail.

In his speech during the Conference opening, Al- Badir emphasized that the goals of Vision 2030 represent a fundamental pillar in growth and prosperity and play a role in enabling many initiatives of the Vision. He highlighted that the establishment of the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA) is one of the enabling factors for this sector, and supporting the contracting sector through the establishment of the Permanent Coordination Committee for the Development of the Contracting Sector is one of the most important enablers. He also pointed out that the contracting development strategy aims to organize the sector, develop its facilities, and enhance the efficiency of its workforce.

Following the opening ceremony, the conference sessions commenced, which will span two days and include 10 sessions, lectures, and workshops. One of the prominent sessions was the opening session titled "Trends in the Saudi Construction Industry .. Trends and Opportunities after 2025." The session featured speeches by the Deputy Minister of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing for Real Estate Development, Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Tuwaijri, and the CEO of Jeddah Holding Company, Saad bin Falah Al-Qahtani, and was moderated by Talat Hafez.

Another session titled "Mega Projects in the Kingdom: Promoting Construction Advancements" included speeches by the Head of Development Sector at the National Housing Company (NHC), Engineer Abdullah Al-Ruwaidan, the General Secretary of the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code, Engineer Saad Shuail, the Secretary-General of the Saudi Council of Engineers, Engineer Abdulnasser Al-Abdullatif, and the CEO of the Petroleum Demand Sustainability Program, Engineer Mohammed Al-Tayar. This was followed by a lecture on "Implementing New Operational Standards and Regulations to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals," delivered by Maryam Telmesani, the Head of Sustainability at Modern Builders Leaders Company (MBL).

The first day also included a session titled "Strengthening the Economic and Social Fabric of the Kingdom." It featured speeches by the academic specialist in urban design, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Zahrani, the Chairman of the Saudi Society for Real Estate Science, Dr. Khaled Al-Sukait, and the Architect/ Ali Al-Shuaibi, with the discussion moderated by Engineer Fahad Al-Anqari.

The last session of the day focused on "Humanizing Cities and Improving Quality of Life in the City of the Future." It included speeches by the CEO of seer Region Development Authority, Hashim Al Dabbagh, the CEO of Tilal Real Estate Company, Abdulrahman Al-Bassam, and the CEO of Walkscapes, Mohammed Al-Mahmoud, with the discussion moderated by Abdulrahman Al-Sayel.

It is worth mentioning that the Conference events will continue on Monday and Tuesday from 9 AM, with the presence of a select group of experts and stakeholders in the contracting sector.
